Ingredients

  • 46 hot cross buns
  • 1½ cups strong brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 250 g mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  • Slice hot cross buns horizontally into halves or thick slices.
  • Prepare strong coffee and let it cool slightly.
  • Lightly dip each bun piece into the coffee (do not soak).
  • In a bowl, whisk mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  • Arrange a layer of soaked buns in a serving dish.
  • Spread a layer of mascarpone cream over the buns.
  • Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cream on top.
