Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (or vegetable oil)

  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Gradually add the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Shape each piece into a smooth ball and arrange them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
  • Cover and allow the rolls to rise for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • While the rolls bake, prepare the topping by mixing the minced garlic, parsley, oil, water, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the garlic mixture generously over the warm bread.
  • Allow the Pampushky to cool slightly before serving.
