Sweet Flower Bread is a soft, fluffy enriched bread shaped like a blooming flower and filled with a buttery sweet filling. This easy homemade bread is perfect for special occasions, breakfast, or dessert, combining beautiful presentation with a light, tender texture.

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 80 g sugar
  • 75 g butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 7 g dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 75 g butter, softened
  • 80 g sugar

For topping:

  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with a little sugar. Let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the egg, softened butter, vanilla extract, and yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • In a small bowl, mix butter and sugar to prepare the filling.
  • Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into circles.
  • Spread a thin layer of filling over each piece and stack or arrange as desired.
  • Shape and arrange the dough pieces in a round baking pan to resemble flower petals.
  • Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Brush the top with beaten egg.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired
