Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Cinnamon Filling

  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until fully combined.
  • Spread about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
  • Drizzle and spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough layer.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the filling and gently spread where possible.
  • Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and the center is set.
  • Allow the bars to cool slightly.
  • Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm bars before slicing and serving.

Notes
