Ingredients

  • pounds beef steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

  • Place the sliced beef in a bowl and toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef in batches and cook until browned and slightly crispy. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes.
  • Pour the sauce into the skillet and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Return the beef to the skillet and toss until fully coated in the sticky sauce.
  • Cook for another 1–2 minutes until everything is heated through.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve hot with rice or noodles.
