Hot Cross Bun Tiramisu is a rich and creamy no-bake dessert that combines spiced hot cross buns with layers of mascarpone filling, espresso-soaked bread, and cocoa powder. This easy tiramisu twist is perfect for Easter, holiday gatherings, or cozy family desserts with its comforting flavors and elegant presentation.

Ingredients

  • 6 hot cross buns
  • 1½ cups brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  • Slice the hot cross buns into halves or thick slices.
  •  The coffee or espresso and allow it to cool slightly.
  • Stir in the coffee liqueur if using.
  • In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  • Quickly dip the hot cross bun pieces into the coffee mixture without soaking them too long.
  • Arrange a layer of soaked buns in the bottom of a serving dish.
  • Spread a layer of mascarpone cream mixture over the buns.
  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cream on top.
  • Dust the top generously with cocoa powder and cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
