This Apple Crumble Pie features tender, cinnamon-spiced apples in a flaky crust, topped with a buttery streusel crumble. A cozy, comforting dessert perfect for holidays or any time you’re craving a warm slice of homemade pie.

Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 6 cups sliced apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for filling)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Crumble Topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and place a rack in the center of the oven.
  2. Roll out and press the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim and crimp edges as desired. Chill in the fridge while preparing the filling and topping.
  3. Peel, core, and thinly slice apples. Toss with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  4. For the crumble topping, mix flour, brown sugar, oats (if using), and salt in a bowl. Add cold butter and use a pastry cutter or fingers to combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Spoon the apple filling into the chilled pie crust, mounding slightly in the center.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. If topping browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
  8. Let cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow filling to set.

Notes

Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra crunch.Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor.Add a pinch of ginger or cardamom for extra spice. For a gluten-free version, use GF crust and GF flour in the topping.Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
