Tachos, or tater tot nachos, are a fun twist on traditional nachos. Crispy tater tots are topped with melted cheese, seasoned meat, beans, and classic nacho toppings for the ultimate comfort food, perfect for parties, game day, or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 lb ground beef or shredded chicken
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 cup black beans (optional)
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup salsa or pico de gallo
  • 1/2 cup guacamole or 1 diced avocado
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange tater tots in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake according to package instructions until golden and crispy.
  2. While the tots bake, cook ground beef (or other protein) in a skillet over medium heat. Add taco seasoning and simmer until fully cooked.
  3. Transfer baked tater tots to an oven-safe skillet or baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle cooked meat, black beans, and shredded cheese evenly over the tots.
  5. Return to the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven and top with jalapeños, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, green onions, and cilantro.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Make vegetarian by skipping the meat and using beans, corn, or extra veggies.Shredded rotisserie chicken is a quick protein option.Use queso or nacho cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese for extra creaminess.Turn them into breakfast tachos by adding scrambled eggs.Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep them crispy.
