Swiss Chicken Bake is a creamy and comforting casserole made with tender chicken breasts layered with Swiss cheese, a rich soup-based sauce, and a crispy stuffing or breadcrumb topping. It’s an easy, satisfying meal perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 46 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups stuffing mix or breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place chicken breasts in the dish in a single layer. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Lay Swiss cheese slices over each chicken breast.
  4. In a bowl, mix cream of chicken soup with sour cream or mayo until smooth.
  5. Spread the soup mixture evenly over the cheese-covered chicken.
  6. Sprinkle stuffing mix or breadcrumbs over the top of the casserole.
  7. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the stuffing or crumbs.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until top is golden and bubbly, and chicken is fully cooked (165°F/74°C internal temp).
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Substitute Swiss cheese with mozzarella or provolone if preferred.Add cooked spinach, broccoli, or mushrooms under the sauce for extra veggies.Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking.Freeze before or after baking for longer storage; thaw before reheating.
