Sugared cranberries are a festive, jewel-like treat made by coating tart fresh cranberries in a crunchy sugar shell. Perfect as a garnish for desserts, cocktails, cheese boards, or enjoyed on their own, they add sparkle and flavor to any holiday table.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat.
  2. Add the cranberries to the syrup and stir to coat. Let them sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cranberries to a wire rack, allowing excess syrup to drip off. Let them dry for about 1 hour until sticky but not wet.
  4. Roll the cranberries in granulated sugar until evenly coated.
  5. Spread them out on a baking sheet and let dry for another 30–60 minutes before serving.
