Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • Pink or red food coloring
  • Optional: corn syrup or edible fake blood for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cupcakes according to recipe or box instructions. Bake and cool completely.
  2. Core the center of each cupcake using a knife or cupcake corer.
  3. Fill each cupcake with about 1 teaspoon of raspberry or strawberry jam and replace the cake top to cover the filling.
  4. Make frosting by beating butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until light and fluffy.
  5. Tint frosting with pink or a mix of red and white food coloring to achieve a brain-like color.
  6. Transfer frosting to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off.
