Russian Tea is a warm, citrusy, and spiced beverage traditionally made from a blend of instant tea, orange drink mix, lemon, sugar, and spices. Popularized in the American South, it’s perfect for cozy winter days or festive holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup instant tea powder (unsweetened or lemon-flavored)
  • 2 cups instant orange drink mix (e.g., Tang)
  • 1/2 cup lemonade mix (optional)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant tea powder, orange drink mix, lemonade mix (if using), and granulated sugar.
  2. Add the ground cinnamon and ground cloves to the mixture.
  3. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to an airtight jar or container for storage.
  5. To serve, stir 2–3 teaspoons of the dry mix into a cup of hot water. Adjust to taste.
