Soft, buttery, garlic‑parmesan breadsticks just like those from Pizza Hut. Golden, pull‑apart sticks with herbed, cheesy topping and a warm, chewy interior.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110–115°F / 43–46°C)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning or marjoram
  • Optional: Pinch of black pepper
  • Optional: Marinara or pizza sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in olive oil and salt. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough (by hand or mixer) for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and brush generously with melted butter.
  6. Press or stretch the dough into the prepared pan. Brush the top with more butter.
  7. Cover and let the dough rise again for 20–30 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 425–450°F (220–230°C).
  9. Score the dough into breadstick strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  10. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown on top and edges are crisp.
  11. While hot, brush with more melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, and optional herbs and pepper.
  12. Let cool slightly, then pull apart and serve warm with marinara or dipping sauce.

Notes

Use bread flour for extra chew, but all-purpose works well too.For dairy-free, substitute butter and Parmesan with plant-based options or nutritional yeast. For cheesy breadsticks, sprinkle extra cheese on top before baking.Make ahead and freeze after baking—reheat with butter before serving.Best served fresh, but reheat leftovers in oven or microwave with damp towel.
