Pinwheel sandwiches are rolled tortillas or flatbreads filled with meats, cheeses, spreads, and veggies, then sliced into bite-sized spirals. They’re colorful, customizable, and perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or on-the-go snacks.

Ingredients

  • 4 large flour tortillas or flatbreads
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 slices deli meat (turkey, chicken, or roast beef)
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, provolone, or preferred)
  • 1 cup lettuce or spinach
  • 1/2 cup sliced vegetables (e.g., cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes)
  • 2 tablespoons mustard or mayonnaise (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Lay a tortilla or flatbread on a clean surface.
  2. Spread a thin, even layer of softened cream cheese over the entire surface.
  3. Add a layer of deli meat and a slice of cheese on top.
  4. Top with lettuce or spinach and your choice of sliced vegetables.
  5. Optional: Add a small amount of mustard or mayonnaise for extra flavor.
  6. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  7. Roll the tortilla tightly from one end to the other, keeping the filling compact.
  8. Wrap the rolled tortilla in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  9. Remove from fridge, unwrap, and slice into 1-inch pinwheel pieces.
  10. Arrange on a platter and serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

Use large, soft flour tortillas to prevent cracking when rolling.Chilling before slicing helps maintain shape and makes slicing easier.Layer parchment paper between stacked pinwheels for easy transport. Not ideal for freezing due to moisture from vegetables and texture changes in the tortilla.Customize fillings based on dietary needs or flavor preferences.
