Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are a delicious twist on the classic Rice Krispies treats. With the addition of creamy peanut butter and a touch of sweetness, these treats become irresistibly chewy and full of flavor. They are quick and easy to make, requiring just a few ingredients, and they’re perfect for a sweet snack or a fun dessert.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 (10 oz) package mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • A pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the treats later.
  2. Melt the Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. Once melted, stir in the peanut butter until fully incorporated. You may also add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness if desired.
  3. Mix with Rice Krispies: Remove from heat. Immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture, and stir gently until the cereal is evenly coated with the peanut butter mixture.
  4. Press into the Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a spatula or your hands (lightly greased to prevent sticking), gently press the mixture into an even layer. Be careful not to press too hard, as this can make the treats too dense.
  5. Let it Set: Allow the Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour, or until they are firm and set.
  6. Serve: Once cooled and set, cut the treats into squares or rectangles and serve.

Notes

For added flavor, you can drizzle melted chocolate on top or add chocolate chips to the mixture.Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar, depending on your preference. If you don’t have parchment paper, greasing the pan with butter works well too.
