Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning (or to taste)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 4 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheese)

  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce

  • 1 tomato, diced

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional, for sauce)

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional, for sauce)

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional, for sauce)

Instructions

  • Prepare the beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Once browned, drain any excess fat.

  • Season the beef: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked beef. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion softens. Stir in soy sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, taco seasoning, and water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  • Prepare the rice: While the beef simmers, cook rice according to package instructions if not already done.

  • Make the sauce (optional): Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and soy sauce in a small bowl for a tangy drizzle.

  • Assemble the taco rice: Divide cooked rice into bowls. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture over the rice, then top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, green onions, and cheese.

  • Finish and serve: Drizzle the optional sauce over the top and garnish with pickled jalapeños for extra flavor and heat. Serve immediately.
