Navets Rôtis au Miel (Honey Roasted Turnips) is a simple yet elegant French side dish that combines earthy turnips with the natural sweetness of honey. Roasting brings out rich flavors, creating a tender, slightly crispy, and caramelized dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium turnips, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the turnip wedges with olive oil, honey, thyme, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the turnips in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Roast for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the turnips are golden brown and tender.
  5. Once roasted, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a different flavor profile, substitute rosemary or oregano for thyme.For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.To enhance the sweetness, toss in some thinly sliced onions with the turnips.
