These golden puffs are filled with gooey mozzarella cheese and seasoned with garlic and oregano, making them the perfect appetizer or party treat. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping, and enjoy this fun, homemade twist on the popular snack!

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade pizza dough)

  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes or shredded

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the dipping sauce (optional):

  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly with cooking spray.

  • Prepare the dough:
Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough on a flat surface. Cut it into 2-inch squares (adjust the size to your preference). If using homemade dough, roll it out and cut it into squares.

  • Assemble the puffs:
Place a small cube or spoonful of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center of each dough square. Fold the dough over the cheese to create a pouch. Pinch the edges to seal and ensure the cheese is fully enclosed. Repeat with the remaining dough.

  • Season the puffs:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Brush the top of each puff with the seasoned butter mixture to add flavor and help them crisp up in the oven.

  • Bake the puffs:
Place the puffs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 1 inch apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  • Serve:
Let the puffs cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired

Notes

  • Cheese options: Try a mix of mozzarella, cheddar, or cream cheese for different flavors.

  • Add-ins:  pepperoni, or veggies like spinach or bell peppers for a heartier snack.

  • Spicy version: Add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the garlic butter mixture for an extra kick.

  • Herb twist: After baking, sprinkle fresh basil or parsley on top for a burst of fresh flavor.
