Le Houmous is a creamy, flavorful Middle Eastern dip made with chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice, perfect for snacking, appetizers, or sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 23 tablespoons water (or more, to adjust consistency)
  • Paprika (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Blend the Ingredients: In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin (if using), and salt. Process for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  2. Adjust the Consistency: If the hummus is too thick, add 2-3 tablespoons of water gradually until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Taste and Adjust: Taste the hummus and adjust salt, lemon juice, or garlic to your preference, blending again to combine.
  4. Serve: Transfer to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with paprika and parsley. Serve with pita, vegetables, or use as a sandwich spread.

Notes

For an ultra-smooth texture, peel the skins off the chickpeas before blending.Hummus can be made in advance for flavors to meld.Customize with spices, herbs, or additional ingredients like roasted red peppers for variation.
