Jalapeño popper wontons are crispy, cheesy, and spicy bite-sized appetizers that combine the creamy filling of jalapeño poppers with the crunch of wonton wrappers. Perfect for parties, game days, or anytime snacking.

Ingredients

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying (if deep frying)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, green onions, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place 1 spoonful of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Wet the edges with water and fold into desired shape (triangle or envelope), pressing edges tightly to seal.
  4. For frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  5. For baking: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange wontons on a lined baking sheet, brush lightly with oil, and bake 10–12 minutes until golden.
  6. For air frying: Place wontons in a single layer in the basket, spray with cooking spray, and air fry at 370°F (185°C) for 6–8 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with ranch or sour cream for dipping.

Notes

Remove seeds from jalapeños for less spice or use green chilies instead.Make ahead: assemble up to 1 day in advance and refrigerate before cooking.Freeze uncooked wontons and cook directly from frozen, adding 2–3 minutes.Avoid microwaving leftovers, as it makes them soggy.Great served with ranch, chipotle mayo, or guacamole.
