Hot Cheeto Mozzarella Sticks are a spicy twist on the classic mozzarella stick, featuring a crunchy Hot Cheeto coating and gooey mozzarella cheese inside.

Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
  • 1 1/2 cups Hot Cheetos, crushed
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk (or water)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Unwrap the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for at least 1 hour to prevent melting during frying.
  2. Crush the Hot Cheetos by pulsing in a food processor or placing them in a zip-top bag and crushing them with a rolling pin. Set aside.
  3. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, and one with the crushed Hot Cheetos.
  4. Coat each frozen cheese stick in the flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, and finally roll it in the crushed Hot Cheetos. For extra crunch, dip the cheese sticks back into the egg mixture and Cheetos for a double coat.
  5. Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the coated cheese sticks for 1-2 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve immediately with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra crunch, add breadcrumbs (panko or regular) between layers of Hot Cheetos.If you prefer, you can bake the mozzarella sticks at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes instead of frying.Try using other types of cheese like cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
