These crispy and golden homemade pita chips are an easy, healthier snack option made from simple ingredients. Baked instead of fried, they pair perfectly with dips like hummus, guacamole, or tzatziki, and are customizable with your favorite seasonings.

Ingredients

  • 4 pita breads (regular or whole wheat)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs like oregano or thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut each pita bread into 8 triangles using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Gently separate the layers of each triangle if you want extra thin chips.
  4. Place the pita triangles in a large bowl or zip-top bag.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Add salt and any additional seasonings of your choice, tossing again.
  7. Arrange the chips in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 7–10 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  9. Watch carefully in the last few minutes to prevent burning.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

For extra crispiness, separate pita layers before baking.Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.To re-crisp, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes.Customizable with various seasonings like parmesan, cinnamon sugar, or everything bagel mix.Thinner pita makes crispier chips.
