Herb & Cheese Quick Bread is a savory, cheesy loaf that’s easy to make with simple ingredients. This bread is filled with fresh herbs, melted cheese, and a soft, fluffy texture. It’s perfect for pairing with soups, salads, or enjoying on its own as a delicious snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme)
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary (or 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a combination of cheddar and Parmesan)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend) until evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this will make the bread dense.
  6. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite meal.

Notes

For a richer taste, you can add more cheese or use a combination of cheeses like mozzarella or Monterey Jack.If you’d like to make it spicier, add red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños to the batter.Use fresh herbs for a more vibrant flavor if available, but dried herbs work perfectly too.
