Ingredients

  • 23 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice heirloom tomatoes into thick rounds or wedges.
  2. Arrange tomatoes on a serving platter.
  3. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the tomatoes.
  4. Add a light drizzle of balsamic or red wine vinegar.
  5. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
  7. Add minced garlic if using.
  8. Top with sliced mozzarella if desired.
  9. Let sit for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
