Healthy banana bread is a moist, naturally sweet loaf made with ripe bananas, whole grains, and wholesome ingredients for a lighter, nourishing twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil or olive oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth.
  3. Whisk in the eggs, honey or maple syrup, oil, vanilla extract, and yogurt until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the banana bread to cool briefly in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best natural sweetness.Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.Add nuts, seeds, or dark chocolate chips for variation.Let the loaf cool fully before slicing for cleaner cuts.
