8 oz halloumi cheese
½ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon black pepper
3–4 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Cut the halloumi cheese into thick fry-shaped sticks.
In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper.
Coat each halloumi stick in the flour mixture, ensuring all sides are evenly covered. Shake off any excess coating.
Heat a thin layer of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Place the coated halloumi fries in the skillet in a single layer.
Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the fries and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges and dipping sauces.
Halloumi cheese has a high melting point, allowing it to become crispy without melting.Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure the fries cook evenly and become crispy.Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor. If the cheese is very salty, you can briefly rinse or soak it in water before cooking.
