Ground Beef and Broccoli is a savory, simple, and satisfying dish that combines the heartiness of ground beef and the freshness of broccoli in a flavorful stir-fry. This quick, one-pan meal is perfect for busy weeknights, offering both protein and veggies in a tasty, easy-to-make dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional, for more depth of flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. While the beef and onion cook, steam or blanch the broccoli florets until tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch (if using), and ginger. Stir the mixture until smooth.
  5. Add the cooked broccoli to the beef and onion mixture. Pour the sauce over the top and stir to coat evenly. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly, and the broccoli is heated through.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve the Ground Beef and Broccoli over cooked rice or noodles, if desired, and enjoy!
