Ingredients

For the shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

For the blanket (dough):

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)

  • Fresh parsley or other herbs (optional, for garnish)

For dipping sauce (optional):

  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  • Prepare the garlic butter shrimp:
In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Stir in lemon juice and set the shrimp aside to cool slightly.

  • Prepare the dough:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent roll dough or puff pastry on a clean surface. If using crescent dough, separate it into triangles. If using puff pastry, roll it out and cut it into squares large enough to wrap around the shrimp.

  • Assemble the shrimp blankets:
Place a shrimp at the wide end of each dough triangle or square. Carefully wrap the dough around the shrimp, starting from the wide end, and pinch the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining shrimp.

  • Season the puffs:
Brush the tops of the wrapped shrimp with melted butter, and sprinkle garlic powder on top for added flavor.

  • Bake the shrimp blankets:
Place the shrimp blankets on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.

  • Serve:
Remove the blankets from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or other herbs if desired. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
