Garlic bread is a classic, easy-to-make side dish featuring crispy, golden crust and a soft, buttery, garlicky center. Perfect as a complement to pasta, soup, or any main course.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 garlic cloves, minced or pressed
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the bread in half horizontally or into thick slices.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, salt, and parsley until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut side or slices of bread.
  5. Place the bread on a baking sheet, buttered side up.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges start to brown and butter is melted.
  7. Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness, watching carefully.
  8. Remove from oven, slice if needed, and serve warm.

Notes

Add cheese before baking for a cheesy version.Use olive oil instead of butter for a lighter variation.To make it vegan, substitute plant-based butter.Leftovers can be stored in foil or an airtight container for 2–4 days.Reheat in the oven or toaster oven for best texture.
