With minimal prep time, this recipe lets the slow cooker do all the work, leaving you with flavorful turkey legs seasoned with aromatic herbs and spices. It’s perfect for a hassle-free dinner that requires little attention but delivers delicious results!

Ingredients

  • 4 turkey legs (about 23 lbs total)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey legs dry with paper towels. This helps to get the skin crispy while cooking.
  2. Rub the turkey legs with olive oil, making sure they are evenly coated.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper.
  4. Rub the seasoning mixture all over the turkey legs, ensuring they are coated evenly on all sides.
  5. Pour the chicken broth (or water) into the bottom of the slow cooker.
  6. Place the seasoned turkey legs in the slow cooker, making sure they are arranged in a single layer for even cooking.
  7. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the turkey legs are tender and fully cooked (the internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C).
  8. If you like crispy skin, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Once the turkey legs are cooked, transfer them to a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy.
  9. Remove the turkey legs from the slow cooker and serve. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Leftover turkey legs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.Reheat in the microwave or in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes until warmed through.Add vegetables like carrots, onions, or potatoes to the slow cooker for a complete meal. For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper or chili powder to the seasoning mixture.Use fresh herbs like sage or tarragon for a different flavor profile.Brush the turkey legs with a sweet glaze like honey mustard or barbecue sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking for extra flavor.
