Easy Penguin Cupcakes are festive and adorable winter-themed treats made with chocolate or vanilla cupcakes, decorated to look like penguins using candies and frosting. Perfect for holidays, birthdays, or fun baking with kids.

Ingredients

  • 12 chocolate or vanilla cupcakes (homemade or box mix)
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate frosting (or vanilla frosting with black food coloring)
  • 6 large marshmallows, halved (or white fondant)
  • 24 mini Oreos or chocolate wafers (for wings)
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 12 orange M&M’s, jelly beans, or fondant triangles (for beaks)
  • 24 orange M&M’s or fondant pieces (for feet)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Bake cupcakes according to your favorite recipe or box mix and let them cool completely.
  2. Frost each cupcake with chocolate frosting. For darker color, add black food coloring.
  3. Place a halved marshmallow flat-side down in the center of each cupcake to form the belly and face area.
  4. Insert mini Oreos or chocolate wafers into the frosting on both sides to create wings.
  5. Attach two candy eyes above the marshmallow using a dab of frosting.
  6. Place one orange M&M, jelly bean, or fondant triangle below the eyes for the beak.
  7. Add two orange candies or fondant pieces at the base of each cupcake to represent feet.
  8. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.
  9. Chill briefly to set decorations or serve immediately.
