Easy Creamy Lemon Chicken is a one-skillet dish featuring tender chicken breasts simmered in a velvety lemon-infused cream sauce. Bright, rich, and full of flavor, it’s perfect for weeknight dinners or elegant entertaining with minimal prep and everyday ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice. Scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and lemon zest. Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  6. Add Parmesan cheese, if using, and stir until melted and smooth.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet and simmer for 2–3 minutes, spooning sauce over the top.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and additional lemon zest if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Use chicken thighs for a juicier alternative.Stir in spinach or mushrooms for added vegetables.Substitute coconut cream for a dairy-free version (omit Parmesan).Simmer gently to avoid curdling the cream with the lemon juice.Pairs well with pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes to soak up the sauce.
