Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 1 tablespoon homemade seasoning mix)
  • 1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 3 cups Doritos, crushed (about half a bag)
  • 1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies (optional)
  • 1/2 cup salsa (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess fat, then add the diced onion and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
  2. Add taco seasoning to the beef mixture along with a little water (as directed on the seasoning packet) or as needed. Stir to combine and simmer for a few minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, salsa (if using), and half of the shredded cheese. Stir until smooth.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish, then layer half of the crushed Doritos on the bottom. Top with half of the beef mixture, followed by half of the creamy cheese mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining cheese on top.
  5. Bake the casserole for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
  6. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with sour cream, chopped green onions, or cilantro if desired.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
