Pollo a la Plancha is a traditional Cuban dish featuring juicy, marinated chicken breasts grilled to perfection. The chicken is seasoned with garlic, lime, and a blend of spices, resulting in a deliciously tangy and savory flavor profile. It’s a simple yet flavorful dish that can be served with a variety of sides like rice, beans, or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional for garnish)
  • Lime wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, lime juice, olive oil, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken and ensure the chicken is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  3. Heat a grill pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated chicken breasts to the pan.
  4. Cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. If you prefer a more charred flavor, you can cook the chicken a bit longer or use an outdoor grill.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges for an extra burst of citrus.
