Crispy Cauliflower Bites with Hoisin Yum Yum Sauce are crunchy, golden-baked cauliflower florets paired with a sweet, tangy, and creamy dipping sauce. A lighter alternative to fried snacks, this recipe is perfect for parties, appetizers, or weeknight cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2/3 cup water or milk
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray or 2 tbsp olive oil
  • For the Hoisin Yum Yum Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or vegan mayo)
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and water (or milk) into a smooth batter.
  3. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Arrange coated florets on the baking sheet and spray lightly with cooking spray or drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Meanwhile, whisk together mayonnaise, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, paprika, and sugar to make the dipping sauce.
  7. Serve crispy cauliflower bites hot with the sauce on the side.

Notes

Add sriracha or chili flakes for a spicy version.Use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs if needed.Swap cauliflower for broccoli or zucchini for variety.Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes for extra crispiness.Garnish with sesame seeds or scallions before serving.
