Crispy Air Fryer Fish Sticks are a healthier, faster version of the classic fish stick. Coated in a crunchy breadcrumb mixture and perfectly seasoned, these fish sticks are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, cooked with minimal oil.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia), cut into strips
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko breadcrumbs work best for extra crunch)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray (for spraying the fish sticks)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fish: Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Cut them into strips about 1 inch wide and 3-4 inches long.
  2. Set up the Dredging Station: In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second shallow dish, beat the eggs. In a third shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Fish: Dip each fish strip into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Air Fry the Fish Sticks: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the coated fish sticks in a single layer, ensuring they aren’t overlapping. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces like tartar sauce, ketchup, or a squeeze of lemon.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.Experiment with different types of fish, like flounder or sole, for varied flavors and textures.Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
