Creamy Cilantro Lime Chicken is a rich and zesty one-pan dish made with juicy chicken smothered in a velvety sauce flavored with garlic, lime, and fresh cilantro. It’s easy, flavorful, and perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika or chili powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and optional paprika or chili powder.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth, scraping up browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  5. Add heavy cream and stir until combined and slightly thickened.
  6. Stir in lime juice, zest, and chopped cilantro. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes to heat through.
  8. Garnish with extra cilantro or lime wedges and serve hot.

Use chicken thighs for a juicier option.Coconut cream can be used instead of heavy cream for a dairy-free version.Add red pepper flakes or jalapeños for a spicy variation.Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or veggies to soak up the sauce.
