A bright, tangy, and sweet cranberry sauce made with fresh cranberries, sugar, and citrus zest. This simple recipe adds vibrant flavor and festive color to any meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup water or orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest or lemon zest
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick or pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Optional: pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries and remove any soft or damaged ones.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, and water or orange juice.
  3. Add citrus zest and cinnamon stick if using.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  5. Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool; discard cinnamon stick before serving.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Sauce will thicken further as it cools.

Notes
