Classic Cheeseburger Sliders are mini oven-baked sandwiches featuring seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and soft slider buns. A perfect bite-sized dish for parties, game days, or a family dinner, offering all the flavors of a traditional cheeseburger in a convenient, shareable form.
1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
12 slider-sized buns (e.g., Hawaiian rolls)
12 slices American cheese
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Preheat Oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare Beef Mixture:
In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
Assemble Sliders:
Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact. Place the bottom halves in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Layer Ingredients:
Evenly distribute the cooked beef mixture over the bottom buns. Place a slice of cheese on top of the beef. Add any additional toppings if desired.
Top and Bake:
Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake:
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serve:
Allow the sliders to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Cheese Options: Swap American cheese for cheddar, Swiss, or pepper jack for different flavors.Sauces: Add ketchup, mustard, or a homemade burger sauce for extra zest.Vegetarian Version: Use plant-based burger patties or grilled portobello mushrooms as a substitute for ground beef.Spicy Kick: Incorporate jalapeños or a spicy aioli to add heat.
