Chili Cheese Fries are the ultimate comfort food, combining crispy fries, hearty chili, and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for game day, parties, or an indulgent dinner, this dish is flavorful, customizable, and totally satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen French fries (or homemade fries)
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans or black beans, drained and rinsed (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or cheese sauce
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, sliced green onions, jalapeños, chopped tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Prepare fries according to package instructions or bake homemade fries until crispy and golden.
  2. While fries are cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, beans (if using), chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer the chili for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  6. Arrange cooked fries on a serving platter or baking sheet.
  7. Spoon hot chili evenly over the fries.
  8. Top with shredded cheese or drizzle with cheese sauce.
  9. Return to oven for 5 minutes to melt cheese, if desired.
  10. Garnish with sour cream, green onions, jalapeños, or chopped tomatoes before serving.
