Baked Chicken Legs are crispy, juicy, and full of flavor—an easy and affordable main dish perfect for busy weeknights or casual family dinners. With minimal prep and simple seasoning, these oven-roasted drumsticks are a comforting classic.

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken legs (drumsticks), bone-in and skin-on
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Lemon wedges or fresh herbs, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Pat chicken legs dry with paper towels to help crisp the skin.
  3. Place chicken legs in a large bowl or directly on the baking sheet.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme or Italian seasoning if using. Rub or toss to coat evenly.
  5. Arrange the chicken in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet with space between each piece.
  6. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden and crispy. For crispier skin, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with lemon wedges or fresh herbs, if desired.

Notes

Ensure chicken is fully thawed and patted dry before baking for best results.Broiling briefly at the end enhances crispiness.Marinate the chicken ahead of time for deeper flavor.Flip halfway through baking for more even browning (optional).Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or a fresh salad.
