Amazing Pepper Steak Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful dish made with thinly sliced beef, colorful bell peppers, and a savory stir fry sauce. It’s perfect for busy weeknights and delivers bold, satisfying flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil, divided
  • 2 bell peppers (red, green, or mixed), sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1/3 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Toss the thinly sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, just until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining oil to the skillet, then sauté the sliced onion and bell peppers until just tender-crisp, about 3–4 minutes.
  5. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the skillet.
  7. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
  8. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
  9. Season with black pepper and optional red pepper flakes.
  10. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
