A Potluck of Lucky Jell-O is a colorful, layered dessert made with vibrant fruit-flavored Jell-O, creamy sweetened milk layers, and festive toppings. Perfect for parties, potlucks, or holiday celebrations, this whimsical treat is as fun to make as it is to eat.

Ingredients

  • 45 (3 oz) boxes of assorted Jell-O (lime, lemon, orange, strawberry, etc.)
  • 5 cups boiling water (1 cup per box)
  • 3 3/4 cups cold water (3/4 cup per box)
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 packets unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water (for gelatin bloom)
  • 3/4 cup boiling water (to dissolve gelatin)
  • Whipped cream or whipped topping (for garnish)
  • Mini marshmallows or rainbow sprinkles (optional)
  • Maraschino cherries or gold chocolate coins (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the first Jell-O layer: Mix 1 box of Jell-O with 1 cup boiling water and 3/4 cup cold water. Stir until dissolved.
  2. Pour the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch glass dish and refrigerate for 30–45 minutes, or until set.
  3. Meanwhile, make the creamy layer: Bloom 2 packets unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water for 5 minutes. Add 3/4 cup boiling water and stir to dissolve. Stir in the can of sweetened condensed milk and let cool to room temperature.
  4. Once the first Jell-O layer is set, pour a thin layer of the creamy mixture on top. Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes until set.
  5. Repeat alternating layers of different colored Jell-O and creamy layer, letting each one fully set before adding the next.
  6. Once the final layer is set (about 4–5 hours total chill time), garnish the top with whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, or cherries as desired.
  7. Chill until ready to serve. Cut into squares with a sharp knife dipped in warm water for clean edges.

Notes

Use a clear glass dish to showcase the beautiful layers.Let each layer cool to room temperature before pouring to prevent melting the one below. To save time, use fewer layers with larger portions of each Jell-O flavor. For a festive twist, use only green and yellow layers for St. Patrick’s Day.Add chopped fruit to some Jell-O layers for texture and flavor.
